At Emirates Park Zoo and Resort (EPZR), our commitment to sustainability extends to our agricultural practices. Our sustainable farm plays a vital role in supporting animal welfare while minimizing our environmental impact.
Increased Grass Production for Animal Feed
In 2023, we significantly enhanced our grass production, increasing the yield from 156,000 kg in 2022 to 192,164 kg. This boost in production ensures that we can provide high-quality, nutritious feed for our animals, promoting their health and vitality. By growing our own animal feed, we minimize our reliance on external suppliers, thereby decreasing our carbon footprint associated with transportation and sourcing.
Incorporating Compost into Farming
Our sustainable farm utilizes compost produced within the zoo, recycling organic waste into nutrient-rich material that improves soil quality and fosters sustainable farming. This closed-loop approach enhances our farm’s productivity and supports our overarching goals of waste reduction and environmental conservation.
Our Commitment to Environmental Responsibility
These initiatives showcase our dedication to responsible resource management and environmental stewardship. Our sustainable farm highlights how innovative agricultural practices can benefit both animal care and ecological sustainability.
We invite you to join us on our path toward a more sustainable future.
